On 05.03.2014 took place in Krosno I Cross-Border Nordic Walking, organized as a part of the project entitled: „ Academy of the physical recreation of the borderland – through sport and recreation towards cooperation and integration”. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget through the Carpathian Euro region as a part of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Republic of Poland – Slovak Republic 2007-2013.
The event was attended by approximately 300 communities of Polish-Slovak borderland, including people with disabilities and the elderly. The division of sports competition was held in categories on account of gender, age and condition, 5 groups (M) and 5 groups (F).
Organizers tried to instil in participants and fans of I Cross-Border Nordic Walking desire for the active involvement in the initiatives of this type undertaken by partner organizations as well as by the Association of the Krosno Development Sport.
A number of shared cross-border recreational events, gathering ordinary people, rather than competitive athletes who are engaged in recreational sport to improve health and overall well-being are insufficient.
The presence of such a large representation of spectators and participants leads to the conclusion that the organizing this type of competition is a good idea.
Each of participants received the commemorative diploma, a T-shirt with the imprint, while the winners received statuettes and prizes in the form of a stick to Nordic Walking.
